Application Guide
Our application process is a two part process, the first step is simply filling out your profile information. Once that is finished you can head on over to the 'Sorting Ceremony' where you will need to post a roleplay sample to the sorting process. This is both to let us know that your application is finished and also to give us an idea on how you will be playing the character.
To start filling out your profile, you can head to 'Profile' at the very top bar of the screen. Underneath the update status bar you'll see two icons on the side, one is a little cog and the other is a paper plane. Select the cog and it will take you to your editing section.
The first screen that pops up is where you will edit your avatar, this is a square image of about 100x100 however any image will work as it will resize. Select the 'Use only uploaded/linked' option and to the right of that there is an 'Upload/Link' link. Click that and choose the image you would like to use.
Next we are going to go to the 'Personal' tab. The only fields that need to be filled out are the following:
Display Name: This must be your characters name, all names must be in proper capitalization. Students are required to have a first & last name. Professors have the option of using their first & last name or they can use Professor followed by their surname. Creatures & ghosts may use their name or the names they are commonly known by around Hogwarts.
Year/Occupation Students will put their year that they are in. Professors will need to put the subject they are teaching & any titles like Head of House. For help choosing your year, you can check out our years & ages guide.
Species Wix is our gender neutral term for witch & wizard, we also have other playable species available. There are limited slots so please see our species & abilities page for more information.
Abilities Please be mindful about what your character might actually know at the age they are. A second year is unlikely to be adept at magic enough to become an animagi or know legitimacy.
Characters Pronouns: How does your character like to be addressed?
Characters Age How old are they? Please only use numbers for this field.
Wand: Wood, core & length. See this page for a list of the cores & woods. Magical creatures & ghosts do not need to fill out this field.
Face Claim: We accept real life face claims only, if you are forgoing a face claim please leave this blank.
Pet: Hogwarts allows an owl, a cat or a toad. You can put their name & species in this field. Ghosts, creatures & staff may ignore this field.
Blood Status: Please select from the drop down box. Ghosts can put their former blood status if they wish.
OOC Name: The name you go by as the player, please use the same name across all of your characters.
Our sorting ceremony is the final step before you can start roleplaying your character. What we are looking for here is to get an idea of how you are going to be playing the character. All characters should reply as though they are at the ceremony, or in the case of creatures or some ghosts - what they were doing at the time. Professors & older students would be watching the ceremony or perhaps reminiscing about their sorting experience. First years would be experiencing the sorting ceremony for the first time and being sorted into their houses.
Try to capture what your character is thinking or feeling during that time. While we are a rapid-fire friendly site, this portion is meant to be a peek into your characters head & how you will be playing the character. We are looking for at least a paragraph or more. Be sure to mention which house it is your character belongs to somewhere in your post.
