After all the students have gone to bed, the house elves emerged from the Kitchens to begin the cleaning of the castle. Roody detested the summers, when the students of Hogwarts weren't around there wasn't much excitement to be had for a house elf. He loved helping the younger students get their bearings at the castle but there was nothing he loved more than the gossip the students brought him.
They also brought more work with them and Roody loved that too. Dirty foot prints littered the Entrance Hall, a lost hat, set of quills and other items were scattered around the castle from sleepy, forgetful students. Roody brought with him an enchanted bag to put such items in.
The small house elf was just buzzing with excitement as he mopped the Entrance Hall to and fro, he didn't even hear the nearby footsteps.
